Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Offshore woes aside, industrial development in Louisiana looks promising as industrial firms develop more than 450 major industrial projects totaling about $46 billion in the state, according Industrial Info's North American Project Database.
The onshore Oil & Gas Production Industry leads the way with more than $14 billion in planned projects. Most of this amount comes from plans by Cheniere Energy Incorporated's (AMEX:LNG) (Houston, Texas) to build an LNG liquefaction plant at the company's Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron, Louisiana. For details on Cheniere's plans, see June 18, 2010, article - Cheniere to Build First U.S. LNG Liquefaction Plant to be Designated for Export in 30 Years.
Other industries planning major work in Louisiana include the Chemical Processing Industry, with 163 projects totaling $4.5 billion, and the Power Industry, with 66 projects totaling $4.8 billion.
