Among the top power projects to be completed this quarter is Commonwealth Edison's (Chicago, Illinois) (ComEd) construction of the 345-kilovolt Grand Prairie Gateway transmission line in northern Illinois. The 60-mile, overhead, high-voltage transmission line runs between the towns of Wayne and Byron, home to a nuclear generating facility, and will help alleviate power congestion in the area and improve reliability. The project has an estimated total investment value $251 million and is expected to be completed this month.
Within the Industrial Manufacturing Industry, one of the largest projects to be completed is CoreCentric Solutions Incorporated's (Glendale Heights, Illinois) $187 million grassroot logistics/distribution warehouse in Carol Stream, Illinois. FCL Builders Incorporated (Itasca, Illinois) is acting as general contractor for the project, which began construction in fall 2015 and is expected to be completed by the end of this quarter. The project entailed the demolition of two existing buildings and the construction of a 350,000-square-foot building with supporting equipment and facilities, including loading docks, shipping bays, a conveyor system, an automatic retrieval system and more.
As Internet orders and deliveries continue growing, another distribution center helps top the list of Industrial Manufacturing projects in the state. Hillwood Investment Properties (Rosemont, Illinois) will complete a 746,772-square-foot distribution center for Amazon.com (NYSE:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington) this month in Joliet. The $80 million project began construction in late 2015.
In the Food & Beverage sector, leading the list of projects in terms of value is Mars Chocolate North America's (Hackettstown, New Jersey) grassroot ice cream distribution center in Joliet. The two-story facility will store ice cream manufactured at a nearby plant and is expected to be completed in March.
These are just a handful of projects being tracked by Industrial Info within the Great Lakes region, which, as a whole, is slated for $7.22 billion in project completions for the first quarter of this year.
