U.S. Wind Energy Ramps Up Capacity, Expects More in 2023

December 19, 2022--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) predicts renewable energy sources will generate 22% of U.S. electricity by the end of 2022, which is ahead of coal (20%) and nuclear (19%). Wind accounts for the bulk of U.S. renewable generation, and more than 10% of operational wind capacity was installed between June 2021 and June 2022.
Industrial Info is tracking more than $4.5 billion worth of active wind-energy projects set to begin construction in the first quarter of 2023, more than $3 billion of which is attributed to projects with a medium-to-high (70% or more) likelihood of beginning construction as currently scheduled. Texas leads all other U.S. states with about $1.67 billion worth of first-quarter wind-energy kickoffs, including projects from FGE Power LLC and NextEra Energy Incorporated (NYSE:NEE).
