Top Issues in Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage in North America

March 27, 2023--Written by Paul Wiseman for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Reaching atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction goals for 2030, 2035, 2050 and beyond may well require action on two sides: reduction of emissions, and capturing and storing those that can't be reduced. Whether those two sides meet in the middle or skew to one side or the other remains to be seen. Most feel that the solution will lean more toward the reduction side, but some processes, such as steel and cement production, may never be zero-carbonized, so carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) could always be necessary.
