There is substantial interest in the fertilizer production industry in Western Australia. Two companies have started, or shown interest in, ammonia-urea production that would significantly reduce the reliance on fertilizer imports.

Perdaman Industries has just awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Saipem-Clough, to construct their $4.3 billion fertilizer plant in Karratha.

Meanwhile, Strike Energy Ltd is moving forward with a $2.3 billion ammonia-urea complex, called Project Haber, in Narngulu.
