Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking three grassroot urea projects worth AUD $12 billion (US$7.9 billion) attributed to Strike Energy (Perth, Australia), NeuRizer Limited (Adelaide, South Australia) and Perdaman Chemicals (Perth), respectively.
Strike Energy's Project Haber is a proposed AUD$3 billion fertilizer plant that will produce 1.4 metric tons per year of granular urea using clean hydrogen and natural gas, but the project is delayed due to limited gas resources. Another miss for Australia's urea industry is NeuRizer's urea project (NRUP), for which the final investment decision is lagging behind. NRUP is set to produce 1 metric ton per year of carbon-neutral urea; however, new regulatory processes and a strategic funding partner hinder its progress, making significant delays. Perdaman Chemicals' new urea production plant is the only project that is on track and under construction (since 2023.) With recent support from Mubadala Investment Company (Abu Dhabi) and Global Infrastructure Partners (New York, New York), the AUD$6.4 billion Project Ceres will produce 2.3 metric tons per year of urea and is scheduled to be completed by 2027. Project Ceres will be the largest urea manufacturing plant in Australia. Click here to read the detailed project report.
