Solar projects feature prominently in the region's planned project starts. Among the top projects planned to kick off in the second half of the year is Westlands Solar Park's (Visalia, California) planned photovoltaic solar farm near Stratford, California. The 600-megawatt (MW) facility will be constructed on 24,000 acres of land. Construction on the $1.6 billion project is planned to kick off in the fourth quarter and take about 2 years to complete. 4Creeks Engineering Incorporated (Visalia) is performing engineering for the project. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Also in California, Wright Solar Park LLC (San Mateo, California) plans to start construction of a 200-MW solar farm near Santa Nella Village, California. Construction on the 680-MW solar farm is planned to kick off in the fourth quarter and take about a year to complete. The project will be built on 1,392 acres. Frontier Renewables (San Mateo) is acting as project director. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
One of the largest Industrial Manufacturing projects is occurring in Honolulu, Hawaii, where Honolulu Rapid Transportation plans to extend its commuter rail network. The $1 billion-plus project will entail constructing four miles of light rail from Middle Street Station to the city center with eight stations on the route. The project is part of a larger $5.1 billion, 20-mile light rail project in the city. The project is planned to kick off by the end of the year and take about two years to complete. CH2M Hill Incorporated (Englewood, Colorado) is acting as design-engineering firm on the project. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
A grassroot desalination plant helps boost the Food & Beverage Industry to a distant third place in terms of project value. The $1 billion project in Huntington Beach, California will take about two years to complete. The plant, owned by Poseidon Resources Corporation (Carlsbad, California) will produce 50 million gallons per day of potable water from seawater. However, the project still has several permitting hoops to jump through, so the prospect of meaningful construction beginning this year remains somewhat low. For more details, see Industrial Info's project report.
These are only a few of the projects in Industrial Info's Global Industrial Project Platform, which includes details on more than $13.6 trillion in active industrial projects throughout the world.
