Procter & Gamble Setting Footings for Newest Paper Machine in Wisconsin

Plans to build a new paper machine in Green Bay, Wisconsin by Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG)(Cincinnati, Ohio) are in full swing. The company, through its general contractor, Spirit Construction (Savannah, Georgia), has started site preparation and is currently pouring the footings for the new tissue paper machine. Slated to come online in 2007, the new tissue and towel machine is being supplied by Andritz AG (Graz, Austria) and will be housed in a new 103,000 square-foot building near P&G’s existing plant. Andritz Tissue, Incorporated, (Janesville, Wisconsin) is providing overall project management and engineering support.

The new paper machine, converting equipment, and modifications to five existing paper machines, by industry estimates, places the cost of the project at around $200 million.

Procter & Gamble’s towel and tissue operation in Green Bay is comprised of six paper machines and related converting equipment along with a new 1,000,000 square-foot warehouse that opened in 2002.
