Pepsi Bottling Group Plans New Plant on East Coast

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Pepsi Bottling Group Inc. (NYSE: PBG) (Somers, New York) plans to construct a new $65 million soft drink bottling plant on the East Coast that is expected to become operational by late 2003.
Pepsi broke ground last month on the 300,000 square foot building that is located in the Southwest corner of Virginia in Wytheville roughly 200 miles West of Richmond in Wythe county.
A&E firm Cox, Kliewer & Company P.C. (Virginia Beach, Virginia) has been selected to provide architecture and design for the project and process design work and equipment installation will be handled by the McMackin Group out of Norwood, Massachusetts.
The complex will include multiple bottling lines, warehouse, and distribution facilities plus a sales and corporate office building.
The project is on a fast-track construction schedule and is slated to be operational by late 2003 and some 200 local jobs will be created.
Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc. is the world's largest seller, manufacturer, and distributor of Pepsi-Cola beverages with operations in the U.S., Canada, Greece, Russia, and Spain.
