ExxonMobil plans to construct a new polypropylene unit at its existing polyolefins plant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is just one of eight new polypropylene projects in the U.S. and Canada tracked by Industrial Info. See map below.
All eight units total $7 billion in investment and add 6.8 billion pounds per year of polypropylene to the market. These projects are driven by the low cost of propane, the feedstock for propylene that is processed into polypropylene, and favorable downstream polypropylene markets.
