Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). It isn't often these days to find a small company with so much dynamic potential, but Adventure Plastics Incorporated (Plant 1062630) of Ackley, Iowa, surely fits that bill. According to owner and President Stan Siems, Adventure is in the process of moving to a new 235,000 square foot building formerly owned by Chiquita Food Processing, and also plans to add new equipment, as it completes renovations on the building. On the property adjacent to the new manufacturing facility is a 125,000 square foot dividable warehouse. Adventure intends to rent out the warehouse for manufacturing or storage purposes.
The first new equipment for the company will be a new wash line, enabling the company to be able to clean and use dirtier recycled plastics than it formerly had bought, and a second pulverizer. Adventure has a new contract to pulverize high-molecular-weight, high-density polyethylene gas tanks with an ethylene-vinyl alcohol layer. The company is also considering putting in some palletizing lines, and is entertaining the idea of expanding into ABS plastics recycling, besides the HDPE and other resins it has customarily used in its molding operations. Expansion into the automotive market would definitely be an option, according to Siems.
The company has thirteen presses up to 550 metric tons, two 50-pound blow molders, and extruders, from which it presently produces flower pots, agricultural tubs, and a patented plastic construction shim, as well as other custom products. Besides the plastics molding, Adventure is building a new tool and die shop with all the requisite CNC equipment and machinery.
