Chinese Steelmaker Restarts Construction on Boutique Mill

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Guangdong Nanfang Donghai Iron & Steel Company Limited suspended production at its 8.2 billion yuan (US$1.18 billion) Yunfu Boutique Steel project in 2022, due to issues with regulatory approval. But the company recently was approved to replace 1.25 tonnes of old capacity with 1 tonne of new capacity, and it has resumed its project schedule.

The project is in Guangdong Metal Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Industrial Park, in the Yuncheng District of Yunfu City. Guangdong Nanfang plans to build a pair of 150-ton electric furnaces, a supporting lime kiln, a 1,650-millimeter hot-rolling production line and other supporting facilities. The first phase is scheduled to begin operations in 2024.
