Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The groundbreaking ceremony for Datang Huayin Youxian Energy Company Limited's (Zhuzhou, Hunan) Liushuchong Coal Mine was held in Zhuzhou City, in Youxian County, on March 27, 2012. Both the power plant and coal mine for the Youxian Coal and Power Integration Project have entered the implementation stage, China Datang Corporation (Beijing) recently announced.
As the first coal and power integration project and the largest project invested by China Datang Corporation in the Hunan province, the Datang Youxian Coal and Power Integration Project plans to have a 2 million-metric-ton anthracite mine and a 2,400-megawatt (MW) pit-head power plant, using the rich coal resources in Youxian County. Two 600-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units and a 300,000-ton-per-year coal mine with a total investment of about $1.16 billion will be built in the initial stage. Datang Huayin Electric Power Company Limited (SHA:600744) (Changsha, Hunan), a listed flagship of China Datang Corporation that is headquartered in Central China's Hunan province, is responsible for the development of the project.
Early in July 2010, the project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission. In March 2012, construction contractors for the main works were awarded to Shanghai Electric Power Construction Company Limited (Shanghai) for Unit 1, Hunan Thermal Power Construction Company Limited (Changsha, Hunan) for Unit 2, and Guizhou Electric Power Construction No.2 Engineering Company Limited (Guiyang, Guizhou) for the cooling tower.
According to the schedule, the initial stages for the coal mine and the power plant will begin operations in 2013.
Among the leaders and representatives who attended the ceremony were Yu Laishan, the deputy governor of the Hunan province, and Wang Lin, the vice president of China Datang.
