FERC Rejects Jordan Cove LNG Export Project - The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has rejected Veresen Incorporated's (TSX:VSN) proposal to construct the Jordan Cove liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project in Oregon as well as an associated pipeline to supply gas to the facility that was to built by Williams Partners LP (NYSE:WPZ).

EIA: Total U.S. Energy Sales Fell in 2015 - The U.S. Energy Information Administration reports that total electricity sales in the U.S. fell 1.1% in 2015, marking the fifth annual decline in eight years. The agency pointed to a slowing rate of economic growth and increased efficiency of appliances and equipment as reasons for the decline in sales.

Eni Begins Production in Norway Arctic - Italy's Eni SpA (NYSE:E) (Rome) on Saturday began production at the 180 million-barrel Goliat field in Norway's Arctic region.
Iran Oil Production Climbs in February - OPEC reports that Iran increased crude oil production by 187,800 barrels in February to 3.13 million barrels per day, the largest monthly rise for the country since 1997.

Athabasca Oil Buckles Down on Capex as it Weathers Low Prices, Pins Hopes on Murphy JV - Like every other player in the Oil and Gas Production Industry, Canada's Athabasca Oil Corporation (Calgary, Alberta) has had to do some serious belt tightening as it strives to survive the harsh pricing environment. The producer of light and thermal oils originally targeted a capital budget of C$266 million ($351 million) for 2015. For this year, the targeted spend is C$91 million ($120 million).
