Dominion Generation Adding 150 Megawatts to Ladysmith Peaking Station in Virginia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Dominion Generation (Glen Allen, Virginia), a subsidiary of Dominion Resources Incorporated (NYSE: D) (Richmond, Virginia), is looking to add 150-megawatt (MW) to its existing 342 MW Ladysmith Peaking Power Station in Woodford, Virginia.

The gas-fired peaking facility is in Caroline County with two 171 MW General Electric MS7001FA combustion turbines (CT #1 and CT #2) that became operational in summer 2001.

Two 180 MW combustion turbines (CT #3 and CT #4) are under construction with completion expected in August 2008. Construction started in the last quarter of 2007.

The plant site was designed to encase five units. Dominion is proposing to add the last 150MW unit (CT #5), with construction set for the end of this year and completion in fall 2009.

All units will be installed with General Electric MS7001FA combustion turbines.

Crowder Construction Company (Charlotte, North Carolina) is the general contractor for CT #3 and CT #4. However, it has not been officially announced that Crowder will get the contract to construct CT #5.
