Dongfang Electric Receives $1.07 Billion Order for Wind Turbine Generators

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited (SHA:600875) (Chengdu) has won an order estimated at $1.07 billion to supply 766 sets of FD77A/77B wind turbine generators for Phase I of the 1,000-megawatt (MW) Jiuquan wind power base in northwestern China's Gansu province. The wind turbine generators will have a total capacity of 1,115 MW.

The project comprises eight windfarms with a total planned installation capacity of 35.65 gigawatts (GW), including Beidaqiao, Ganhekou, Qiaowan and Liuyuan windfarms in Guazhou county; Changma, Diwopu and Sanshilijingzi windfarms in Yumen city; and the Mazongshan windfarm in the Subei Mongolian Autonomous Region. In Phase I, the objective is to build 3,000 MW of wind power during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan: 2,000 MW in Guazhou county and 1,000 MW in Yumen city. By the end of 2010, the accumulative installed capacity of wind power at the Jiuquan wind power base is expected to reach 3,410 MW. The second objective is to expand the accumulative installed capacity of wind power to 10.65 GW by 2020.
