Dongfang Electric to Supply Ultra-Supercritical Steam Turbine Generating Units to Xinjiang Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited (SHA:600875) (Chengdu, Sichuan) signed the turbines, generators and boilers (TGB) procurement contracts to supply four 1,100-megawatt (MW), ultra-supercritical steam turbine generating units to Xinjiang Nongliushi Coal & Electricity Company Limited's (XNCEC) (Wujiaqu, Xinjiang) Wujiaqu Power Plant, Dongfang Electric announced on June 16, 2011. The company also will supply two 700-MW, ultra-supercritical steam turbine generating units for Chiping Haoji Power Plant in North China's Shandong province.

XNCEC's 4,400-MW coal-fired power project, which will be in the East Industrial Park of Wujiaqu City, is the first gigawatt-level unit project and the first gigawatt-level unit order received by Dongfang Electric in Xinjiang. "This means that Dongfang Electric has made a brand new step in expanding its market in Xinjiang," the company said in its announcement.

As a fully owned subsidiary of Shandong Xinfa Aluminum & Electricity Group (Liaocheng, Shandong), XNCEC is working with Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consultation Institute (Jinan, Shandong), the design and engineering contractor, on the engineering of its project so as to provide power to the owner's aluminum alloy, carbon black, semi-coke and asphalt manufacturing complex in the industrial park.

The Chiping Haoji Power Plant is built and invested by Shandong Xinyuan Aluminum Industry Company Limited (Liaocheng, Shandong), another subsidiary of Shandong Xinfa Aluminum & Electricity Group. The power plant currently has two 360-MW combined heat and power units under construction. Together with these two additional 700-MW units, the power plant will serve as the power source for the owner's 1 million-metric-ton aluminum ingot complex in Liaocheng.

Shandong Xinfa Aluminum & Electricity Group, which was established in 1972, is a leading private aluminum and power producer in China. With the completion of these projects, Shandong Xinfa Aluminum & Electricity Group will become the largest local thermal power and aluminum producer in the country.
