Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Eastover Energy Limited (Edinburgh, Scotland) has submitted plans for approval to the city council of Aberdeen, Scotland, to move forward on a combined heat and power biomass power plant. The facility will be located at the Arjowiggins Stoneywood paper mill site, on the banks of the River Don.
Planners are scheduled to meet later this week and are expected to approve the project so construction can start around October of this year. The plant will provide 90% of the mills heating requirements and excess electricity will be sold to the national grid.
Plans call for the construction of a biomass plant that will process more than 245,000 tons of low-grade wood to generate 20 megawatts of electricity. The estimated £30 million project will take 14 months to complete and is expected to begin generating electricity by early 2015.
Eastover Energy also has additional plans to construct biomass power plants in Craigellachie, Scotland, near the Macallan distillery, and in Cramlington, England, near the Aesica Pharmaceuticals plant.
