Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Egyptian government is focusing on expanding its biggest revenue sector, Petroleum Refining, by adding new refineries and expanding existing ones.
According to the BP Statistical Review on World Energy, Egypt consumed 734,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) of petroleum products in 2019.
Currently, Egyptian refiners are processing 749,000 BBL/d, which is enough to meet the country's domestic needs. Egyptian refiners plan to add 454,000 BBL/d of crude oil processing capacity by 2026, which would place the total capacity at 1.2 billion BBL/d, while its domestic consumption would be 745,000 BBL/d by 2026.
