Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Egypt, which depends on natural gas for most of its electricity needs, is slowly making a shift toward renewables. Natural gas comprises more than 80% of the country's installed energy mix; however, with the emergence of low-cost renewables, the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has set a goal of 42% of electricity to be generated from renewables by 2035.
It's not just solar and wind. Egypt also is looking to invest heavily into large green hydrogen projects that will be powered through these renewable sources. Industrial Info is tracking renewable power projects worth $12.5 billion in Egypt, of which more than 75% is from solar and wind.
