Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--ENEOS Corporation (Tokyo, Japan), which runs nine refineries across Japan, has delayed post-maintenance restarts at two of its plants. The company says mechanical issues forced it to extend the restart dates from July to later this month. Both facilities have been undergoing turnarounds since May.
Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Petroleum Refining project and plant databases can learn more from detailed project reports on the turnarounds at the Sendai and Sakai refineries.
ENEOS also reported five unplanned shutdowns across four other refineries in the second quarter, due to mechanical issues.
All nine of the ENEOS refineries have been operational for 50 to 60 years, and much of the problems are attributed to aging equipment and units. However, the company says it is highly likely that such unplanned shutdowns will continue to be an issue.
