Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Central Mississippi Generating Company LLC (CMGC) (Sallis, Mississippi), a subsidiary of National Energy and Gas Transmission Incorporated (NEGT) (Bethesda, Maryland), formerly known as PG&E National Energy as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy is divesting a 500-megawatt (MW) intermediate load natural gas-fired combined-cycle Attala Generating Plant in Sallis, Attala County, Mississippi, for $88 million. Entergy Mississippi Incorporated (EMI) (Jackson, Mississippi), a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation (NYSE:ETR) (New Orleans, Louisiana), has signed a purchase and sales agreement to acquire the plant, if they can get approval from federal and state agencies, as well as from the Mississippi Public Service Commission. The acquisition closing is targeted for the end of 2005, or beginning of 2006.

Attalla Generating plant operates with a staff of around 20 employees and was originally built for Duke Energy North America (DENA) (Houston, Texas), a subsidiary of Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina). Construction on Attala started in the first quarter of 2000, and it was completed in the second quarter of 2001. The plant was built by a joint venture of Duke/Fluor Daniel. The power island for the facility consists of General Electric (GE) steam and combustion turbine/generators (ST & CT) and three Alstom pressure reheat heat recovery steam generators (HRSG). The CT's are GE MS7001FA's, with a design capacity of 160 MW and operational capacity of 146 MW. The heat from the CT's provides the heat for the HRSG's whose steam drives 180 MW design 154 MW operating condensing turbine/generator.
