Entrega Gas Pipeline Nears Construction Phase of New Natural Gas Pipeline in the Rocky Mountains
Construction on the Leg II portion of the project is expected to begin during the second quarter of 2006
Released Thursday, September 01, 2005
Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Entrega Gas Pipeline, Incorporated (Denver, Colorado), a subsidiary of EnCana Corporation (NYSE:ECA) (Calgary, Alberta), is planning to begin construction on its Entrega Pipeline project in the next few weeks. The new pipeline will be constructed in two phases called Leg I and Leg II. The first leg of the new 42" diameter natural gas pipeline will originate near Meeker, Colorado, and terminate in the Wamsutter, Wyoming Area. The length of Leg I will total approximately 136 miles and is planned for completion in late 2005.
Leg II of the Entrega Pipeline project will extend the 42" diameter pipeline a further 192 miles from the Wamsutter, Wyoming area to an interconnection with the Cheyenne Hub in northern Colorado. Construction on the Leg II portion of the project is expected to begin during the second quarter of 2006, with completion slated for late 2006 or early 2007. Both phases of the pipeline will total 328 miles of new pipeline at an estimated capital cost of $664 million dollars, and will be able to transport up to 1.3 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day (Bcf/d) at a maximum operating pressure of 1,650 psig.
Entrega Gas Pipeline had previously awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction management contract to Trigon-Sheehan LLC (Denver, Colorado) and recently awarded Universal Ensco, Incorporated (Houston, Texas) the general construction contract for the pipeline. Once Leg I and Leg II are complete, there could be a further phase in late 2007 to install three turbine-based compressor stations to the pipeline to increase capacity. The number and size of the compression expansion project will be dictated by the capacity increases of producers in the area between Meeker and Wamsutter.
