EPIC Midstream Delivers Permian Crude to Corpus Christi

Like other midstream companies that operate in Texas, EPIC Midstream Holdings LP (San Antonio, Texas) has been working to move crude oil out of the Permian Basin to the Texas Gulf Coast.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Like other midstream companies that operate in Texas, EPIC Midstream Holdings LP (San Antonio, Texas) has been working to move crude oil out of the Permian Basin to the Texas Gulf Coast. Earlier this week, EPIC announced that it had achieved initial delivery on a pipeline running from the Permian to Corpus Christi, Texas. Industrial Info is tracking more than $4.6 billion in projects involving EPIC.

The conversion of the natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline to carry crude oil began last summer, with MPG Pipeline Contractors LLC (Houston, Texas) and Holloman Corporation (Houston) as the general contractors. The pipeline will carry up to 400,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) of crude oil and will provide intermittent service as EPIC wraps up construction of its permanent crude oil pipeline. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

The company began construction on its permanent, 600,000-BBL/d crude oil pipeline from the Permian to the Gulf Coast late last year. In a company press release, EPIC said the pipeline was more than 50% complete and that the mainline was expected to be completed in January 2020. EPIC will begin ramping up volumes in the first quarter, when it will begin transitioning its converted pipeline back to NGL service. The new crude pipeline has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of more than $1.1 billion. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on spreads 1 and 3, Spread 2, and spreads 4 and 5.

EPIC also is at work on a 650-mile NGL pipeline. The pipeline will transport up to 450,000 BBL/d of Permian and Eagle Ford NGLs from Loving, New Mexico, to Corpus Christi. The project kicked in the first half of last year and is expected to wrap by the end of 2019. Pumpco Incorporated (Giddings, Texas) is the general contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on Phase II and Phase III of the pipeline.

To accommodate the pipeline, EPIC is underway with construction on an $800 million NGL fractionation facility in the Corpus Christi area. The facility will have a processing capacity of 100,000 BBL/d. Construction began early last year and is expected to wrap up around the same time as the NGL pipeline. Optimized Process Designs LLC (Katy, Texas) is providing engineering, procurement and construction services. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

EPIC also is underway with several terminals related to its pipeline projects. Among these is a crude oil and condensate receipt terminal in Saragosa, Texas, to be operated in conjunction with its crude oil pipeline. The project includes constructing two 50,000-barrel above-ground storage tanks plus two truck unloading racks to collect crude oil and condensate for transport to Corpus Christi via the pipeline. Construction began late last year and is expected to be completed in early 2020, in conjunction with the pipeline. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
