Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Unit 3, the first unit of Xinmi Power Plant's Phase II expansion, completed the piping flushing prior to boiler ignition on January 10, 2012. It's expected that the unit will achieve the first rotor startup in the second half of January, according to an announcement from Shanghai Electric Power Construction No.2 Engineering Company (SEPC2) (Shanghai) on January 16.
Xinmi Power Plant is in Xinmi City, in the Henan province. The power plant has two 300-megawatt (MW) coal-fired units in operation, and is owned and operated by Zhengzhou Yuzhong Power Generation Company Limited (ZYPGC) (Xinmi, Henan). ZYPGC is invested by Beijing Sanjili Energy Company Limited (Beijing), a member of the State Development and Investment Corporation (Beijing). Henan Electric Power Survey & Design Institute is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Phase II expansion project was held on September 16, 2009. Structural erection of the project began in March 2010, but the project didn't receive final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission until October 2010. According to the approval, the project will be furnished with two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, with a total investment of about $1.25 billion.
Unit 3 passed the boiler water pressure test in July 2011, while Unit 4 passed it in December. Presently, SEPC2 is working with the project owner, the designer, the equipment manufacturers and other parties for the final commissioning of the project. It's expected that the first unit of Phase II will go into operation in February 2012, and the entire project will be completed in July 2012.
