Gulf South Awards Contracts, Begins Construction on $411 Million Pipeline Expansion

The expansion will alleviate transportation constraints and allow the increased volumes of natural gas production from these areas to be transported eastward.

Released Monday, October 08, 2007

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Gulf South Pipeline Company LP (Houston, Texas), a subsidiary of Boardwalk Pipeline Partners LP (NYSE:BWP), has begun site preparation work and is moving to the construction phase of its $411 million Southeast Expansion project. The project is a 111-mile 42-inch diameter natural gas pipeline designed to provide natural gas producers in eastern Texas and northern Louisiana an outlet for a significant amount of their production from the Barnett Shale and Bossier Sands.

The expansion will alleviate transportation constraints and allow the increased volumes of natural gas production from these areas to be transported eastward. The pipeline will originate near Harrisville, Mississippi, and will stop in the West Butler, Alabama, area near Transco Pipeline’s compressor station No. 85. The new pipeline will have a transmission capacity of approximately 1.2 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas and will be supported by the construction of three new compressor stations and the installation of 10 new engine-driven Caterpillar compressor packages. The stations will be located Harrisville and Destin in Mississippi and one along Gulf South’s existing pipeline near Delhi, Louisiana.

Gulf South has awarded the design and engineering contract for the pipeline portion of the project to Hatch Mott MacDonald (Pearland, Texas). The construction contract was awarded to Gregory & Cook Construction Company (Houston, Texas).

Gulf South awarded the design and engineering contracts for the compressor stations to Universal Ensco Incorporated (Houston, Texas). The construction contract for the compressor stations was awarded to InfraSource Underground Construction Service (Maysville, Georgia).

Construction on the Southeast Expansion is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2008.
