Huadian Guigang Power Plant’s Phase I Ready to Be Put into Full Operation

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Guigang Power Generation Company, Limited (Guangxi, China), a fully owned subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation (Beijing, China), one of the top five power producers in China, has completed water pressure tests, pipe blowing, ignition and first run of the steam turbine for the second 600 MW unit of the Guigang Power Plant. The unit was successfully synchronized to the Southern Power Grid on June 14, 2007, and marks the conversion from a power consumer to a power producer in Southwest China’s Guangxi Autonomous Region. This is less than three and half months after the first 600 MW unit of Guigang Power Plant was put into operation on February 28, 2007.

Guigang Power Plant 2X600 MW Phase I project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in July 2006, and is the first project invested by China Huadian Corporation in the Guangxi Region. Construction for the Phase I project officially started on May 26, 2005.

Guigang Power Plant’s 2X600 MW Phase I project is located in the Gangbei District of Guigang City in the Guangxi Region. The project has two 600 MW supercritical coal-fired generating units and a total investment of $650 million. Annual power output will be about 6.1 billion kWh.

Currently, the preparation work for Phase II of Guigang Power Plant is being carried out in an orderly way. Guigang Power Plant’s Phase II project is expected to build two 1,000 MW ultra supercritical coal-fired generating units.
