Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The signing ceremony for the Strategic Cooperation Agreement in Energy and Other Related Sectors between China Huaneng Group Corporation (Huaneng Group) (Beijing, China) and the government of Heilongjiang Province was held in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, on September 11, 2007. Qian Yunlu, Party Secretary and Director of the standing committee of Heilongjiangs government; Heilongjiang Gov. Zhang Zuoji; and Huaneng Group President Li Xiaopeng attended the ceremony.
According to the agreement, Huaneng Group will continue to participate in Heilongjiangs economy, expand investment, accelerate the development of energy projects, such as power, and promote cooperation in related industries. Heilongjiang will welcome and support Huaneng Groups investment in the province for the development of coal and power integrated projects, combined heat and power projects, large thermal power projects and renewable energy projects. Both parties unanimously agreed to accelerate the preliminary preparations for the Huaneng Hegang Power Plant Phase III expansion, and to strengthen their strategic cooperation in equipment manufacturing based on the principles of mutual benefits and common development.
Huaneng Hegang Power Plant is in Xinhua Town, Hegang City, in the Heilongjiang province. The current installed capacity is 1,200 megawatts (MW) two 300 MW coal-fired units of Phase I, which began operation in October 1998 and September 1999, and one 600 MW supercritical coal-fired unit of Phase II, which went online in April 2007.
Huaneng Group is a state-owned firm approved by the State Council, a state-authorized investment entity and a trial enterprise of state-holding corporations. Huaneng Group is the largest power producer in China. It owns 87 power plants in 23 provinces (cities or autonomous regions), with a total installed capacity of 61,740 MW. It also owns two thermal power plants in Heilongjiang with a total installed capacity of 1,830 MW, accounting for about 13% of the total installed capacity there.
