Bruce Mansfield Units 01 and 03 in Pennsylvania Taken Offline Due to Water Disposal Issues
Units 01 and 03 of FirstEnergy Generation's Bruce Mansfield Power Station in Pennsylvania are offline due to a water disposal issue related to sludge drying and thickeners. Unit 01 was taken offline on July 21, and Unit 03 was taken offline on June 20. Unit 01 will remain offline until Wednesday, July 26, and Unit 03 will remain offline until Friday, July 28. Each of the coal-fired units can generate 913.8 megawatts (MW). Industrial Info is tracking a planned $140 million ash bond closure project at the power station. Valero has restarted the 55,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) at its 175,000-BBL/d McKee Refinery in Sunray, Texas. The unit was taken offline for repairs earlier on Monday. The same unit was taken down for two days beginning June 15 due to valve issues, and also was shut down on June 21 due to a process upset (PADD III). (Outage: 379774) (Plant: 1000910)
Marathon Shuts down Kentucky Refinery Due to Power Outage
A weather-related power outage forced Marathon Petroleum on Sunday to shut down its 242,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refining complex in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. Restart procedures are under way, and refinery personnel are hoping to return all units to service by Wednesday, July 26. Industrial Info is tracking a $30 million centralized control room building addition at the refinery. Work began in 2016 and completion is expected in early 2018. (Plant: 1013324)
