IIR Top Chemical Processing News Today

Shell Chemical's approximately 1.95 billion-pound-per-year OL-5 Ethylene unit in Norco, Lousiana, has been operating at reduced rates since May 2021 after a partial restart from a planned turnaround.

Shell Chemical's approximately 1.95 billion-pound-per-year OL-5 Ethylene unit in Norco, Lousiana, has been operating at reduced rates since May 2021 after a partial restart from a planned turnaround. The unit currently is ramping up to normal operating rates.

Dow Chemical restarted its 1.61 billion-pound-per-year LHC 7 Ethylene unit in Freeport, Texas, over the past weekend, after the unit experienced an unplanned shutdown on July 4.

Westlake Petrochemicals' 1.6 billion-pound-per-year Petro 1 Ethylene unit in Sulphur, Lousiana, remains shut down due to a fire that occurred on June 25.

Yanbu National Petrochemical Company has delayed the restart of the 2.86 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit at its Yanbu'al Bahr Petrochemical Complex in Saudi Arabia due to additional needed repair work. The restart is now expected by July 23.

LG Chemical Limited has rescheduled a 47-day planned turnaround of the 2.8 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit at its Seosan Daesan Chemicals Plant in South Korea. The turnaround is now expected to begin September 30, and expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by November 15. Separately, a 47-day planned turnaround of the 4,400-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) unit is scheduled to begin September 30, with the restart expected November 15.

Mitsui Chemicals Incorporated, on July 9, restarted the 18.73 million-pound-per-year ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene unit at its Iwakuni Ohtake Chemical Complex in Japan.
