IIR Top Refining News Today

WRB is no longer planning to perform maintenance on the 66,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Crude Distilling Unit 4 (DU-4) and 38,000-BBL/d Hydrocracker in early September at its 356,000-BBL/d Wood River Refinery in Roxana, Illinois. At this time, a new schedule for this event is undisclosed.

Irving Oil remains on schedule to begin a 60-day planned maintenance turnaround of six units on September 19 at its 300,000-BBL/d refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick.

CITGO has delayed the planned turnaround of the 167,000-BBL/d Crude 111, 75,000-BBL/d Vacuum 111 and 38,000-BBL/d Sponge Coker 113 units, now to begin in early October for approximately 40 days, at its 167,000-BBL/d refinery in Lemont, Illinois.

International
Pengerang Refining and Petrochemical's (PRefChem) 300,000-BBL/d RAPID Pengerang Refinery Project in Johor Baharu, Malaysia, resumed trial production runs with feed-in of the Lone Crude Unit, beginning August 30, followed by trial runs on 12 downstream units in phases. Contingent on trial run results, the earliest commercial startup could be any time from October 2021 through January 2022.

PDVSA has not yet restarted the processing units at its 295,000-BBL/d refinery in Cardon, Venezuela, after being forced to shut down on August 23 due to a lack of crude oil and recurrent mechanical issues. Planned repairs are being performed on the Fluid Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU) and other major units, and plans are to complete the turnaround's mechanical portion by the third week of September; the FCCU will remain offline until October.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) continues with a 30-day planned turnaround of the 40,000-BBL/d Diesel Hydrodesulfurization (DHDS), 7,000-BBL/d Naphtha Hydrotreater (NHT) and 10,000-BBL/d Isomerization units, which began September 3, at its Mumbai Refinery in India. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the units by October 2.
