Ergon West experienced a fire on April 9 at one of the maintenance buildings at its 23,000-BBL/d Congo Refinery in Newell, West Virginia. The fire was extinguished, and plant operations were unaffected.
Delek US Holdings continues with a plant-wide maintenance turnaround, which is now expected to be extended by an additional two weeks, until April 23, at its 80,000-BBL/d El Dorado, Arkansas, refinery. The maintenance began on February 14.
Calumet Specialty Products started a 45-day plant-wide maintenance turnaround on April 1 at its 25,000-BBL/d Great Falls, Montana, refinery.
International
Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company restarted the 92,000-BBL/d High Olefin Fluid Catalytic Cracker (HOFCC) and 22,611-BBL/d HF Alkylation units on April 2 at its 400,000-BBL/d Rabigh Refinery in Saudi Arabia. The units shut down on March 26 due to the malfunction of heat exchangers.
Esfahan Oil Refining Company (EORC) has rescheduled the 30-day planned maintenance shutdown of four units at its 360,000-BBL/d (actual capacity: 335,000 BBL/d) Esfahan Refinery in Iran. The turnaround was planned to begin March 28, but it is now expected to begin by September 1. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the units by September 30. Separately, the start of the 30-day planned shutdown of the 22,500-BBL/d CDU 4 has been rescheduled, from May 1 to September 1. The unit is expected to come online by September 30. Additionally, the 30-day shutdown of the 22,500-BBL/d CDU 5 remains on schedule to begin June 1. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by June 30, 2021.
PT Pertamina Persero Indonesia is gradually restarting its 125,000-BBL/d RU VI - Balongan Refinery in Indonesia, after a fire and explosion at four fuel oil product tanks, which forced major process units offline on March 29. First to restart was the lone CDU on March 31, followed by the 83,000-BBL/d FCCU (RCCU), 27,500-BBL/d Reformer and 23,000-BBL/d Isomerization units on April 7.
