Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Indonesia's PT PLN (Persero) is constructing the Asahan 3 Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA), with a total capacity of 174 megawatts (MW). This is a National Strategic Project located in the Asahan and Toba regencies of North Sumatra.
The Asahan plant is expected to be operational by March 2024, with an estimated investment value of more than $240 million. In February, the Asahan River's flow was re-routed to a diversion channel as the intake weir construction began.
