Worldwide, Industrial Info is tracking more than $8.9 billion in industrial gases project activity now in the construction phases. Global demand for industrial gases has accelerated in recent years, and the market is predicted to reach $87 billion by 2021, according to a report by The Business Research Company (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania).
Back in the U.S., most of the industrial gases projects under construction involve air separation units. In Saint James, Louisiana, the U.S. component of Air Liquide (Paris, France) is at work on a grassroot air separation plant, which is expected to produce at least 2,400 tons per day of oxygen to supply a 1.9 million-ton-per-year methanol plant that is planned by Shandong Yuhuang Chemical (Group) Company (Heze City, Shandong Province, China), and 2,600 tons per day of nitrogen for the merchant market. The air separation plant project is expected to be completed in early 2019. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
In Westlake, Louisiana, Matheson Tri-Gas (Bernards Township, New Jersey) is wrapping up work on two new air separation units at its plant site. When the air separation unit expansion is completed later this year, the plant will be able to produce 1,875 tons per day of oxygen and nitrogen. The first two air separation units were completed in 2016. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
In Claymont, Delaware, Linde AG (Munich, Germany) is building an air separation unit to produce 1,200 tons per day of liquid oxygen and 400 tons per day of industrial gases, including argon and nitrogen. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report. Linde is in the process of merging with Praxair Incorporated (NYSE:PX) (Danbury, Connecticut). For more information on Praxair projects, see August 16, 2018, article - Industrial Info Tracks $826 Million in Praxair Projects as Merger with Linde Looms.
