Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--INEOS New Planet BioEnergy LLC, a joint venture of INEOS Bio (Gladbeck, Germany) and New Planet Energy Florida LLC (Vero Beach, Florida), says that its cellulosic-based ethanol production facility in Indian River County, Florida, is now on target with expectations of an August 2012 start of production. For more information, see August 4, 2012, article - INEOS New Planet Energy Says Cellulosic Ethanol Production a Year Away.
The original plan was to have the plant up and running by the spring of 2012. The timetable ran over about four months behind schedule due to a lengthy evaluation of the contractor building the plant, AMEC (Tucker, Georgia).
Construction started on the estimated $130 million plant back in February 2011. The first-of-its-kind waste-to-ethanol plant will process some 150,000 tons per year of grass clippings, tree cuttings, waste wood and agricultural plant debris into 8 million gallons per year of fuel ethanol. Included in the project is a 6.3-megawatt electric power generating unit that will correspondingly run off of biomass.
INEOS has several chemical production facilities across the U.S. Facilities in Texas have nearly $200 million is capital. These facilities have maintenance projects scheduled for 2011 and beyond. The company also has plants in Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, Illinois and Alabama. These plants have nearly $60 million in planned projects and maintenance activity in the works.
