InterGen Prepares for Commercial Start-Up of 1,220MW Redbud Power Project

Redbud Energy LP (Luther, Oklahoma), a joint venture between InterGen North America (Houston, Texas) and Energetix (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) a subsidiary of Rochester Gas & Electric Corporation (NYSE: RGS) (Rochester, New York), nears full commercial operation for the $700 million Redbud Power Project located in Luther, Oklahoma in Oklahoma County. Construction for the new power project started in October 2001 and was completed in late fall 2003. InterGen anticipates full commercial operation for the project in May 2004. Redbud will operate in a combined cycle configuration consisting of four 170 megawatt (MW) natural gas fired GE Power Systems MS7001FA PG7241 (FA) combustion turbine generators with dry low NOx burners, four Foster Wheeler heat recovery steam generators equipped with duct burners and four 150MW Alstom Power HD condensing steam turbine generator all of which will generate a total of 1,220MW. The project will also feature state-of-the art air emissions-reduction technology that includes selective catalytic reduction (SCR) for the control of NOx emissions.

Once the project has commenced full commercial operation, Redbud will be connected to the Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) power grid and will receive its natural gas from both ONEOK and Williams natural gas transportation pipelines.

Bechtel Power Corporation headquartered in San Francisco, California was responsible for the engineering on the project. The Atlantic Projects Company Incorporated based in Schenectady, New York acted as the general contractor for the project.
