Among the projects being tracked by Industrial Info is First Solar Incorporated's (NASDAQ:FSLR) (Tempe, Arizona) planned 300-megawatt (MW) grassroot solar facility near Blythe, California, in Riverside County. The facility is being built on 4,800 acres and will use First Solar's thin-film photovoltaic solar modules. In Georgia, First Solar plans to begin construction of the 200-MW Twiggs County solar farm early next year. The project is being built on 2,000 acres and will use approximately 500,000 solar panels. Construction on the project, which has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $400 million, is expected to last a little more than year. One of the largest solar projects planned to begin construction this year is AES Corporation's (NYSE:AES) (Arlington, Virginia) planned 500-MW Highlander photovoltaic solar plant near Thornburg, Virginia. Construction is planned to begin this quarter and be completed in the first quarter of 2020. Swinerton Renewable Energy (San Diego, California) is performing engineering, procurement and construction on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $750 million.
