Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--MidAmerican Energy Company (Des Moines, Iowa) is actively enforcing environmental upgrades at its Walter Scott Jr. Energy Center (Council Bluffs, Iowa), formerly known as Council Bluffs Power Station. It was renamed after the former CEO of Peter Kiewit Sons' Incorporated (Omaha, Nebraska), a construction and engineering company.
The 82-MW Unit 2 is scheduled to have low NOx burners and overfired-air (OFA) installed by next spring, the installation will be performed by Alstom Power (Saint Marys, Kansas).
Construction had started early this year on a wet scrubber system to be installed onto the 726-MW Unit 3 Babcock & Wilcox opposed-fired dry bottom boiler.
Sargent & Lundy LLC (Chicago, Illinois) provided engineering services with completion and tie-ins scheduled in the spring of 2009.
