Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking $10.44 billion in Oil & Gas Production projects that are planned for completion in the U.S. in the first half of 2018. The U.S. Southwest market region, which includes the Permian Basin of Texas, leads in terms of project value.
As natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL) production becomes more prominent in the Permian Basin and Eagle Ford Shale in Texas, more fractionation trains and gas processing plants are springing up. Among these is Enterprise Products Partners LP (NYSE:EPD) (Houston) NGL Fractionation Train 9 addition at its facility in Mont Belvieu, Texas. The 85,000-BBL/d train is being constructed at an existing propylene complex and will increase total fractionation capacity to 685,000 BBL/d. Construction began in the first quarter of last year, with S&B Engineers and Constructors Limited (Houston) acting as project manager. The project has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $500 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
In Pecos, Texas, Caprock Midstream LLC (Humble, Texas) is wrapping up an expansion of its natural gas processing plant. The project involves constructing a 300 million-cubic-foot-per-day cryogenic natural gas processing train to bring total plant capacity to 440 million cubic feet per day. The project kicked off in the third quarter of last year, with SNC Lavalin Group Incorporated (TSX:SNC) (Montreal, Quebec) acting as general contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Texas isn't the only place with growing natural gas production. Production from the Marcellus and Utica shales in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia remains strong. In Bulger, Pennsylvania, Energy Transfer Partners LP (NYSE:ETP) (Dallas, Texas) is underway with construction of a grassroot cryogenic natural gas processing plant. The facility will have a processing capacity of 440 million cubic feet per day and will produce NGLs and fractionated ethane. ISTI Plant Services Incorporated (Tulsa, Oklahoma) is providing engineering, procurement and construction on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $250 million. For more information, see Industrial info's project report.
Of course, processing plants would not be possible without associated gathering systems. In Texas, Brazos Midstream (Fort Worth, Texas) is constructing a 150-mile natural gas gathering system and 35-mile crude oil gathering system near Pecos. The system will gather from the southern Delaware Basin and will transport to Brazos Midstream's Comanche processing plant. The company plans to begin construction of a third processing train at the plant this summer, which will increase total processing capacity to 460 million cubic feet per day. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the crude gathering system, natural gas gathering system and Train III addition.
