Murakami Manufacturing USA Plans $10 Million Expansion in Kentucky

Murakami Manufacturing USA, Incorporated (Campbellsville, Kentucky), a wholly owned subsidiary of Murakami Corporation (Japan) plans a $10 Million expansion of their Campbellsville, Kentucky Plant (Plant 1063061).

Located on 575 Watertown Bypass, construction on the $10 Million expansion is expected to start in March 2004 on a 55,000 square foot building addition to the existing 55,000 square foot building. Completion of the project is slated for late summer of 2004. New equipment will also be installed. The addition of plastic molding-die casting and electrostatic painting lines for the manufacture of outer frames of rear-view mirrors will be considered which is expected to bring $25 million in sales by 2005. Approximately 75 jobs are expected to be created. Plastic molded parts and mirrors supplied by local vendors are also being assembled at the plant and supplied to Japanese automotive makers.

The Bristol Group out of Lexington, Kentucky was awarded the General Construction Contract for the expansion.

Murakami Manufacturing USA Incorporated, the first United States establishment for Murakami Corporation, was established in June 2000. Initial U.S. production started in June 2001. The plant manufactures and sells rear-view mirrors to supply Murakami's products to Japan's major automakers and major Asian automakers and plans to supply to the Big Three (domestic) U.S. automakers. Murakami Corporation, founded in 1882 in Japan as an ornamental metal company, engages in rear-view mirror production with a primary emphasis on the manufacture of automotive rear- view mirrors. Murakami is listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
