The Nemo Link interconnector, a joint venture between transmission system operators Elia (Belgium) and National Grid (U.K.), connects the U.K. and Belgium's electricity systems via subsea cables, allowing the two countries to trade electricity using high-voltage direct current technology. The Nemo Link interconnector is a 140-kilometer subsea and underground transmission line connected to a converter station in each country that allows the flow of electricity in either direction.
