Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--O'Neal Incorporated (Greenville, South Carolina) will perform construction management services for a carbon fibers plant addition at Cytec Carbon Fibers' plant in Piedmont, South Carolina. Cytec Carbon Fibers LLC is a subsidiary of Cytec Industries Incorporated (NYSE:CYT) (West Paterson, New Jersey). O'Neal will have a staff of 11 on-site at the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2009, with plant commissioning slated for early 2010.
Phase I of the project includes additional capability to meet the demand for next-generation carbon fibers. Cytec's carbon fibers act as a reinforcing material in advanced composites used by aerospace and high-performance manufacturers, and it offers advantages such as light weight, high-tensile strength, durability and resistance to corrosion and high temperatures. Carbon fibers are experiencing increased demand, leading to more capital spending in the industry.
