Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Carbon capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS) company 1PointFive and pipeline company Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE:EPD) (Houston, Texas), said on Monday they reached an agreement for the development of a carbon dioxide (CO2) transportation network to support 1PointFive's Bluebonnet Sequestration Hub project in southeast Texas.
1PointFive is a subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:OXY) (Oxy) (Houston).
Under the agreement, once 1PointFive provides notice, Enterprise would develop a new pipeline network and provide fee-based transportation services to 1PointFive to transport CO2 emissions captured by third parties at facilities near the Houston Ship Channel to the Bluebonnet Sequestration Hub. The new pipeline network would be co-located with existing pipeline infrastructure.
In a joint press release, 1PointFive President Jeff Alvarez said, "This agreement pairs our expertise managing large volumes of CO2 with Enterprise's decades of midstream experience to bring confidence to industrial customers seeking a decarbonization solution."
Bob Sanders, executive vice president of asset optimization for Enterprise's general partner, said, "By leveraging our proven midstream expertise and integrated network of assets, we are well positioned to provide a reliable and cost-efficient CO2 transportation solution."
1PointFive announced in early October it had received $36 million from the U.S. Department of Energy to help fund its Bluebonnet and Magnolia carbon-capture and storage (CCS) hubs.
The Bluebonnet project would be constructed in Chambers County, Texas, along the Gulf Coast. The facility would have a carbon sequestration capacity of 1.3 billion metric tons.
