The 147.2-megawatt (MW) project, which is located about 50 kilometers south of Québec City in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, will utilize 46 direct-drive wind turbine generators from Siemens AG (Munich, Germany).
Project owner Pattern Energy Group (NASDAQ:PEGI) (San Francisco, California) awarded Borea Construction (Quebec City, Quebec) the general contract. Borea will be responsible for hiring subcontractors through the project's duration. Pattern also entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Hydro-Québec (Montreal, Quebec).
The Mont Sainte Marguerite Windfarm has a total investment value of $275 million and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
