PSEG Power LLC (Newark, New Jersey), a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated (NYSE: PEG) (Newark, New Jersey), has completed construction and is performing startup testing for the $500 million Lawrenceburg Merchant Energy Project located in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County, Indiana.
Construction for the project began in May 2001 and was completed in late November 2003. The plant is expected to begin commercial operation by the end January 2004. Lawrenceburg will operate two combined-cycle power islands, each consisting of two 172 megawatt natural gas fired GE Power Systems MS7001FA PG7241 (FA) combustion turbine generators, two Aalburg Industries Incorporated (Pioneer GT8) heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) equipped with duct burners and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to reduce NOx emissions, and one 231-megawatt GE Power Systems D11 Condensing Reheat Steam Turbine Generator. The plant will have a total nameplate capacity of 1,150 megawatts capable of powering up to a million homes.
Duke/Flour Daniel (D/FD) headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina performed both the engineering and construction services for the project.
