Rolling Hills Generating LLC Begins Commercial Operation of New Plant

The plant consists of five 168-megawatt Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation W501FD combustion turbines, each of them utilizing state-of-the-art air emissions-reduction technology including Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for the control of NOx emissions. As an 838-megawatt facility, Rolling Hills will operate in a simple-cycle configuration acting as a peaking plant for the growing demands of Vinton County.

The owner's engineering contract was awarded to Black & Veatch Corporation headquartered in Overland, Kansas. Black & Veatch Corporation is a leading global engineering, construction and consulting company specializing in infrastructure development in the fields of energy, water and information.

The general construction contract was awarded to Zachry Construction Company Corporation located in San Antonio, Texas. Zachry Construction Company provides a wide array of services including construction, project development, construction management and industrial maintenance to both domestic and international customers.
