Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Ørsted (Fredericia, Denmark) last week celebrated the commencement of its first co-located wind and solar facility, which is located in Bee County, Texas. The Helena Energy Center will generate 268 megawatts (MW) of wind power and 250 MW of solar power.
The Helena Windfarm comprises 66 wind turbines and the co-located Sparta solar facility includes more than 600,000 solar panels. The project spans more than 18,000 acres and includes 40 participating landowners. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Power Project Database can click here for the Helena wind farm project report and click here for the Sparta solar project report.
"We deeply appreciate the collaboration with Bee County leadership, community members and landowners, without whom this project would not be possible," said Trevor Sholly, head of onshore project execution at Ørsted, in a press release. "Ørsted is proud to be a long-term partner of the community for years to come."
Industrial Info is tracking 25 active capital Ørsted projects in the U.S., worth more than $18 billion. Subscribers can click here for a list of detailed project reports. Most of the planned investment amount is tied to large offshore windfarms on the East Coast. These include the 800-MW Sunrise Offshore Windfarm off of Montauk Point, Long Island; the 704-MW Revolution Offshore Windfarm off the coast of Rhode Island; and the 130-MW South Fork Windfarm, which is under construction 19 miles southeast of Block Island, Rhode Island. Subscribers can read detailed reports on the Sunrise, Revolution and South Fork projects.
Back on land, Ørsted is constructing the 300-MW Eleven Mile Solar Farm and 300-MW battery energy-storage system (BESS) in Casa Grande, Arizona. Completion is planned for fourth-quarter 2024. Subscribers can click here for the project report.
