Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In order to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, Saudi Arabia is moving ahead with its strategic roadmap to install carbon capture units at its gas processing plants. Saudi Aramco (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia), the oil and gas major for the country, is developing the "Accelerated Carbon Capture and Storage (ACCS) Project" which includes carbon capture units at gas processing plants, along with a pipeline and carbon storage facility at a saline aquifer at a remote location. The project aims to capture about 9 million tonnes per annum of carbon dioxide (CO2) from three gas plants. As confirmed, the front-end engineering design work is completed for the project, and currently, the project is in the cost optimization and planning stage.
