MIDDLE EAST
Attacks Cut Flows on Major Saudi Oil Pipeline - Attacks on Saudi energy facilities have cut the kingdom's oil production capacity by around 600,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) and an attack on a pumping station reduced the throughput on the major East-West pipeline by about 700,000 BBL/d, Saudi state news agency SPA reported on Thursday, citing an official source at the energy ministry.
The attacks, including previous strikes on some facilities, also disrupted operations at key oil, gas, refining, petrochemical and electricity sites in Riyadh, the Eastern Province and Yanbu Industrial City, SPA said. The ministry source did not specify who launched the missiles and described the pipeline as currently a main route for supplying global markets. (Reuters)
JAPAN
Japan Considers Further Oil Reserve Release - Japan is considering a new release of about 20 days' worth of oil reserves as early as May, news agency Kyodo reported on Thursday, amid uncertainty over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz despite a U.S.-Iran ceasefire. Japan, dependent on the Middle East for some 95% of its oil supply, began releasing oil from its stockpiles on March 16 in coordination with other nations and on its own. The country now has enough oil for 230 days in its reserves. (Reuters)
LNG
Russia's Yamal LNG Sends Cargo to China for First Time Since November - Yamal LNG, controlled by Russia's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer Novatek recenrtly sent its first cargo to China since last November, LSEG data showed on Tuesday, weeks before the gradual enforcement of Europe's ban on Russian LNG imports.
