Several Metals and Minerals Industry plants in different locations in the Philippines have suspended operations to comply with local and national government's quarantine measures as the COVID-19 outbreak continues in the country. Iron and steel casting, as well as glass processing plants, have shuttered operations in line with the national government's "Enhanced Community Quarantine" within the Luzon area. Various plants outside the Luzon quarantine region, including a nickel smelter in Leyte province, have also stopped production due to local government and provincial ordinances.
